Marina Demetra – Premio d’arte Visiva “Leonardo” • Rome

Palazzo Velli, Piazza di Sant’Egidio 10, November 29 – December 4, 2025

The Effetto Arte Foundation is pleased to present the Leonardo Prize – Rome: “Contemporaries in Comparison,” an outstanding event created to pay tribute to contemporary creativity and its protagonists just steps from the Trevi Fountain.

With the mission of promoting cultural dialogue between different languages, generations, and sensibilities, to build a bridge between past and present, between the timeless genius of Leonardo da Vinci and the vitality of today’s art, in the beating heart of the Italian capital.

Marina Demetra presented a series of works in which stone (natural semiprecious stones and crystals) is not merely decorative but a structural component of the pictorial language: the stone fragments and tesserae are arranged according to compositional criteria to create polychrome surfaces, reliefs, and plays of light that intertwine aesthetic and symbolic values (formal rigor and references to the material and ritual dimension of the mineral). This expressive method is consistent with the artistic biography published on her website.

Participation in the Leonardo Prize places Demetra’s works in an institutional exhibition context that favors the comparison of different contemporary practices; the use of natural materials and the artisanal component of the techniques adopted allow the artist to propose a reflection on the relationship between nature, the exhibition stage, and the symbolic value of materials. Official information on the rules and venues of the 2025 Prize is available through the Prize’s channels and those of the participating institutions.
