It is believed that the term Amazonite may derive from the ‘Amazon River‘, even if there are no deposits of the mineral in the area.
Legend has it that amazonite was the favorite stone of the mythical Amazons, the famous warriors to whom extraordinary physical prowess has been attributed. This gem has always been recognized as having the ability to make women beautiful and attractive.
Amazonite currently comes from Russia, the United States (Colorado), Madagascar, India and Brazil.
Extraordinary artefacts worked by the Egyptians, also recovered in the tomb of the Egyptian pharaoh Tutankhamen, reveal the antiquity of the existence of this stone; however, the original name given is unknown, as the current name is recent (18th century).
It is connected to both the fourth and fifth chakras. Due to the effect of the throat chakra (V – Visuddha), it works with words and communication and by vibrating intensely with the heart chakra (IV – Anahata), it stimulates sincerity and truth, thus allowing you to communicate only what you really feel and think.
Thanks to this stone, we can truly express who we are, very naturally. Its color resembles the color of water and specifically Amazonite can be assimilated to continuously flowing water. Precisely for this reason the flow and movement of the person’s energies, especially emotional ones, is favored.
This wonderful stone, defined as the crystal of femininity (love, compassion, reconciliation, intuition), I won’t deny you, is too strong for me. It made me question a lot. I have a strong, determined character; when I wore it on my skin for a week, I noticed that my character became the opposite, fragile and reflective. That’s not a bad thing, of course! It’s a way to question yourself and, as many of us have experienced, it is always very challenging and also very painful.
This crystal is in fact connected to feminine power, but at the same time it allows us to rebalance the feminine and masculine parts within us.
The shades of this stone, sometimes due to the inclusion of copper, are truly fantastic: they vary from the transparent light green almost blue, which recalls the sea, to the brilliant dark green, which recalls nature. Living in the middle of the woods, I see these shades every day.
