Origin of the name: From the village of Shun’ga, on the shores of Lake Onega, Republic of Karelia, a northern Russian region bordering Finland.
Origin: The only area of Karelia, its only place of discovery.
Chemical composition: Carbon in quantities ranging from 60% to 98%. If the quantity is greater than 90%, we have elite shungite (or Shungite I), the most valuable and effective.
The Stone of the Tsars
The first official mention of the black purification stone I’m talking about today is closely linked to the famous Tsar Peter I, known as the Great.
It was he who wanted to build these splendid baths after learning of the almost miraculous effects achieved by bathing in the waters of Karelia, after they had passed through dark rocks filled with shungite.
He sent his officers here to rejuvenate after exhausting marches and battles, hoping this would give new strength to his army!
The characteristic of coming exclusively from a single area (and a very small one at that) of the planet, makes it very likely that it derives from a meteorite that crashed into the ground in this extreme area of our planet millions, perhaps over a billion years ago.
A fairly solid scientific hypothesis, as well as extremely suggestive!
But what does this “survivor” of the crash look like to us?
It is a brilliant black organic mineral (with some sand-colored veins in some cases), on which light enjoys reflecting, following its natural chippings!
Another unique feature of shungite: its molecular structure.
Analyzing the carbon it contains, we find an icosahedral shape, a 20-sided polyhedron made up of 60 atoms!
This perfect shape was called FULLERENE, discovered only in 1985 by Harold Kroto, Robert Curl, and Richard Smalley (a discovery that earned the three the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1996).
FULLERENE is composed of 12 pentagons and 20 hexagons, with each vertex corresponding to a carbon atom; this makes its shape similar to a hollow sphere, an ellipsoid, or a tube at the same time!
A shield against radiation
Thanks to the presence of fullerenes, this stone can absorb harmful substances in its environment. Shungite acts as a true shield against the various radiations that threaten us.
There is extensive scientific literature on this subject, reporting evidence from various environments.
Even testimonies have been collected in areas near the infamous Chernobyl disaster, testifying to environments “protected” by shungite’s “cage” of fullerenes; in these environments, the damage and illnesses resulting from the disaster were less severe than in the surrounding areas!
Even in less toxic areas, this rock slows down any destructive process (inflammation, allergies, stress, and illnesses), and initiates a process of energetic regeneration.
Another example of our stone’s defensive network is shungite powder, which can enhance the properties of multilayer microwave radiation shields, for which numerous patents have been obtained.
Benefits
Shungite brings countless benefits.
I called it “protective stone“, and it is.
It protects our environment, ourselves, and is useful for reducing, as I mentioned, the negative effects of electromagnetic waves, as well as for water treatment.
A shield against negativity!
It protects our environment by absorbing negative energy.
If we decide to keep it at home, we can choose the shape that best suits us: pyramid, sphere, or cube.
The cube is more closely linked to the earth and should therefore be placed low; the pyramid, on the other hand,
is more closely linked to the sky and should therefore be placed higher.
Finally, the sphere exerts a less powerful force but radiates more evenly. That’s why I’ve always been advised to keep it in the room where I spend most of my time.
It protects us, combating apathy and fatigue; so let’s carry a small piece of shungite with us, perhaps even in the car, to stay alert during our travels!
Also, in the car, it can reduce electromagnetic pollution, which is amplified in enclosed spaces.
Studying this stone, I discovered that industry is increasingly using shungite-based protective products, especially for those who work in environments with high electromagnetic concentrations!
Finally, water purification: sinks with faucets lined with shungite are increasingly being produced, directly in contact with the water, which can then be drunk, free from some bacteria for our well-being!
Final tip
We don’t take any stone for granted; better yet, we don’t take for granted
even a remote corner of our world!
Likewise, shungite: we’re certainly not talking about a rare stone, yet, as with all things, it must be learned how to use it.
A common stone that teaches something uncommon: patience, a fundamental companion on the path to self-expression!
