“Everyone’s true vocation is only one,
that of knowing oneself”(Hermann Hesse)
Pyrite
Not all that glitters is gold, but that doesn’t mean it has no value.
A saying that in crystal therapy is particularly suited to this stone.
Pyrite has been known over the centuries as ‘fool’s gold‘ given its enormous similarity to the precious metal.
This similarity has made it a symbol throughout the world to attract money and good luck and a help for those who are unfamiliar with money, because they are too generous or too stingy.
For the French in the Middle Ages, however, the ‘pierre de sante’ was above all the stone of health, due to the certainty of its beneficial effects.
In the world of crystals, Pyrite brings with it the meaning of fulfillment, fullness, spiritual enlightenment, satisfaction. It is fundamental on the path that leads us in our transformation from ordinary beings to spiritual creatures.
The warmth and life-giving presence of the sun
It owes its name to the Greek ‘Pyros’ (fire) due to the characteristic, known since prehistoric times, of releasing sparks that can light fire, once rubbed.
It was thought to actually contain fire within it.
A stone that exerts enormous fascination, for its shine (that of the sun at midday) and for the geometric shapes in which it appears, even in splendid overlapping cubes called ‘Spanish cubes’ which are found near sedimented clays and in coal.
In this case it is the perfect stone for intellectual and creative endeavors.
Furthermore, the cubic shape leads our thoughts towards the harmony of the cosmos.
It brings back beautiful memories, especially of love and friendship. It helps not to lose the memory of the happy days spent.
It is the stone of masculine energy, of passion that immediately ignites, of success sought and desired with determination.
Absolutely to keep in the office, on your desk, especially when you feel inadequate for a job, because it helps to address worries before they become problems and think positively about all the possible solutions.
Combined with fluorite and calcite it helps memory efforts and study.
Resting on the sixth chakra they develop intuition and awaken latent intelligence.
Benefits
Powerful on an energetic level, it leads to better blood oxygenation.
Linked to the crown chakra, it captures the energy of fire and earth, balancing and strengthening the aura. Pyrite and self-knowledge.
It is a symbol of clarity, it helps us become aware of our true nature, both our strengths and weaknesses.
It shows us our hidden sides, helping us to be more sociable and open towards others.
Once we have accepted our limits, we can also accept those of others.
It brings out the causes of conflicts and discomfort in our minds, helping us to remove them.
It sheds light on unclear clinical pictures. It’s an illuminating beacon!
It gives us full knowledge of ourselves!
And now allow me to tell a personal episode of my relationship with this gem.
During a trip I had the opportunity to meet some miners who extracted iron pyrite and chalcopyrite.
For them this stone was truly gold. It was the only point of light along with the oil lamps, in the total darkness of the belly of the earth.
It was the luminous dignity of their almost impossible work, but which allowed them to feed their family.
Certainly for these men bent by fatigue, but who did not give up fighting, pyrite was not ‘fool’s gold’, but a powerful light of life and hope.
I think of them every time I hold this stone in my hands and I thank them for teaching me that every encounter is a new richness.
